From this article ( we can see that Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data was converted from Zap2It to Rovi.
This conversion appears to have been the cause of having no television guide information available in Windows Media Center after July 20 I recommend avoiding the tasks above if you media center system is currently working but is just missing the guide data.
) I was able to put together a workaround which works for my system and from feedback I’ve received in twitter it appears to be working on other systems.
There are also some grabbers not included in the XMLTV project distribution. The Xmltv Unrelated Projects are things which don't use the XMLTV format but are somehow connected to TV listings.
This article is also covered in this episode on OTA DVRs of the Grounded Reason Podcast.
When considering alternatives to cable, a streaming device and an over the air (OTA) antenna provide near unlimited television programming at a fraction of the cost of cable.
